Other information – This species is found throughout much of Alabama. The plant is easy to identify becasue of its long, thin leaves and sessile flower.
The genus name Trillium comes from the Latin “trilix” meaning “triple” referring to the parts of the plant being in three’s.
The species epithet derives from the Latin “lance” meaning “a lance” and “foli” meaning “a leaf” becasue of the lance-shaped leaves.
