Origin – Native to tropical America.

Other information – This species can be found scattered throughout Alabama. The plant is easy to identify becasue of its finely divided leaves and small white flowers. The plant has glabrous stems and ribbed fruits.
The genus name Cyclospermum derives from the Greek “cycl(o)” meaning “a circle” and “sperm” meaning “seed” for the (semi)orbicular fruits.
The species name leptophyllum derives from the Greek “lept(o)” meaning “fine” and “phyll(um)” meaning “a leaf” for the finely divided leaves.
