Other information – This attractive species can be found in southern Alabama in sandhill habitats. The plant is easily identified in the field by its erect, single stem, habitat, and whitish-pink flowers.
The genus name Liatris is of unknown derivation.
The species epithet elegans derives from the Latin “elegan” meaning “elegant, fine”.
