To begin with, you have to know something. There is a lot of misinformation across the internet about chemicals in each cannabis strain. According to nature and their report [1] results presented by each laboratory are different. Sometimes the difference is high. For this reason, I’ve based this article on two main criteria: the CBD percentage of total chemicals in cannabis and CBD’s percentage of dry mass. Below I want to publish results of searching for the best high CBD strain.

#1 ACDC high CBD strain
The aim of creating this variant of marijuana was achieving the highest possible level of CBD with low THC. This allows to use it for medical cases such as seizures, pain relief and anxiety. It was bred after associating Ruderalis and Cannatonic (another high-CBD variant of cannabis), so it’s kind of Cannatonic variant. ACDC contains about 14% of CBD in dry mass and about 24% CBD of total phytocannabinoids. [1][2]

#2 Harlequin genetics CBD strain
Maybe it isn’t the highest-CBD type of cannabis but it’s quite interesting. Firstly, because of its genetics. It is bred from Columbian Gold, Thai Sativa, Nepali Indica and Swiss Sativa. We don’t have to be genetics to notice that is a typical hybrid. The purpose of developing this variant was medical and recreational use. It can be useful for pain relief, muscle spasms and other musculoskeletal conditions. Using Harlequin have good results in reducing stress and depression. Unfortunately, it contains some of THC and can cause side effects due to that. Also: it may cause legal problems. [4] The last but the most important for us issue: contamination of CBD. It’s about 9% in dry mass and about 15% of total phytocannabinoids [1].

#3 Sour Tsunami (first medical strain)
It’s claimed that this is the first cannabis strain which was developed specifically for medical use. As we can notice, breeding it was tough – it took about 4 years. It’s bred from New York Diesel and Sour Diesel. It contains about 12% CBD in dry mass and about 11% CBD of total phytocannabinoids. You have to be careful during using it because of its THC level. According to ncsm.nl, it can contain even up to 10% THC of the total amount of phytocannabinoids. [1][6]

#4 Harle Tsu (hybrid) high CBD strain
Can a cannabis strain win a cup? Yes of course. Harle Tsu is the best example of that! In 2014 Harle Tsu won an Emerald Cup for the best CBD strain. According to Phylos Bioscience tests it contains about 13-18 % and less than one per cent (1%) THC. If you ask about CBD’s percentage in dry mass – it’s 12.5%. Like the other high CBD strains, Harle Tsu is kind of hybrid. It’s cross between Harlequin and Sour Tsunami. [1][5]

#5 Charlotte’s Web high CBD strain
This strain was developed by Stanley Brothers in 2012. It’s popular due to using it in treatment Charlotte Figi, who suffers from Dravet Syndrome [3]. It contains about 11,5% CBD in dry mass [1]. In dry mass, there is about 11,5% CBD.
As you can notice there are some high CBD strains. Unfortunately, due to big differences between lab results of cannabidiol level, choosing the best high CBD strain is quite difficult. However, if you decide on any from above I can guarantee that they will satisfy you. Almost each of them has low or close to zero levels of THC, so the risk of side effects is really low. In my personal opinion, the best choice is ACDC. Why? It contains probably the highest level of CBD at the moment.
