Other information – This aquatic species can be found in a handful of scattered Alabama counties and is probably more common than is reported. The plant can be identified by its habitat, finely divided leaves, and small white flowers.
The genus name Cabomba is a name used by South American natives. The name derives from the Spanish word for the fruit of the plant.
The species epithet caroliniana means “of carolina.”
