Other information – This species has been reported from just one county in southern Alabama but no vouchered specimen was ever collected so the report is questionable. The plant can be identified by its low, shrubby habit, bluish flowers, and glabrous calices. The calices can sometimes be minutely puberulent but appear glabrous. Another species, C. canescens A. Gray, is more common in the state. This latter species has very hairy (canescent) calices, but is otherwise very similar.
