Habitat – Muddy borders of ponds and lakes, in wet soils of a variety of habitats.

Origin – Native to North America.

Other information – This species can be found in scattered counties of southern and northern Alabama. The plant can be identified by its viscid-puberulent stems, thin, opposite leaves, and small white flowers.
The genus name Gratiola derives from the Latin “grat(i)” meaning “pleasing, favor” referring to supposed medicinal properties.
The species epithet neglecta means “overlooked, neglected, disregarded” referring to the plants small size and weedy nature.
