Origin – Native to North America.

Other information – This striking little species can be found mainly in the extreme northeastern counties of Alabama but could be more common than is reported. The plant is easy to identify becasue of its plain, oblong leaves, stalked flower, and purple anthers.

The genus name Trillium comes from the Latin “trilix” meaning “triple” referring to the parts of the plant being in three’s.
The species epithet pusillum derives from the Latin “pusill” meaning “very small.”
