Origin – Native to North America.

Other information – This species can be found scattered throughout much of Alabama but is most common in the northern portion of the state. The plant is easy to identify because of its 3-lobed, opposite leaves and terminal cymes of white flowers.
The genus name is derived from the Latin “viburn(um)” which is the classical name for “the wayfaring tree”.
The species epithet acerifolium derives from the Latin “acer” which is the classical name for “the maple tree” and “foli(um)” for “a leaf”.
